October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which began with the goal of bringing focus and attention to early detection and treatment efforts. This disease respects no demographic boundaries, and does not discriminate as to age. Because of this, virtually all of us have been close to someone who has fought breast cancer, or is currently in the midst of the battle. Approximately 1.38 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer yearly, resulting in this disease being the most common cancer in women worldwide. Without definitive data on what causes breast cancer, early detection is the most effective way to combat the disease. The combination of early screenings and proper treatment has resulted in very high cure rates, especially in developed countries.

Pretty Petals Cube
The association with all things “pink” is well known during Breast Cancer Awareness month – from the symbolic pink ribbons to earrings and charms; from t-shirts to special edition sneakers – breast cancer events are generally covered in pink, the accepted color of “hope for a cure”. Pink floral bouquets are appropriate to celebrate with a victorious survivor – or to show solidarity and comfort to someone currently fighting breast cancer. Pink carnations, gerbera daisies, roses and lilies are all popular flowers during this month.
