Playing Secret Santa this year? We at Billy Heroman's Flowers & Gifts have the goods. If it's your first time participating in this group gift swap, allow us to introduce you to the concept. Secret Santa's origins can be traced to Scandinavia, where legend holds that a very Santa Claus-like figure used to knock on his neighbor's doors and when they answered, vanish without a trace. All that was left behind was a present and maybe a few lines of verse hinting at the giver's identity.
Today in the U.S. there are countless variations on the theme - even online versions. But no matter which iteration you're playing, we can help with the gift part. Read More about Make It A Sweet Secret Santa Gift »

For many of us, the holiday season only officially begins when we've decorated the house and set up the tree. We transform our homes with garlands and lights, introducing some seasonal spirit to our daily lives. For most of us, it's no different at the workplace. Out come the decorations, cheering up our desks and common areas and announcing to customers, clients and coworkers that the holidays are here.
At Billy Heroman's Flowers, we love to combine our cherished decor with fresh new items unique to that year. And for us, there's no better way to do that than with winter's vibrant poinsettias. Read More about Festive Poinsettias for the Office »
With so much to be thankful for this season, we at Billy Heroman's Flowers & Gifts are offering you another: flowers.
Floral centerpieces haven't been around as long as the cornucopia, but they have been with us for centuries. The idea of trimming your table - especially its heart - with a gathering of bountiful blooms makes total sense; flowers offer texture, fragrance and color. They bring life to a space, and they are lovely to look at. On Thanksgiving, we take great care to create a meal that does all of those things, and to gather friends and family to partake in it. Chances are, you're attending a dinner party sometime this holiday season. And while it may not be on the level of Thanksgiving, it's still a gathering in which your host or hostess will be going to some effort to make a nice meal and put out all the decor. In that case, it's time to think about the thank-you gift you'll offer in return.
Hostess gifts have been around forever, and while there's some debate about what's appropriate to give, one thing is for sure, at least to Billy Heromans Flowers & Gifts: Fall florals are never wrong. Read More about Fall Florals for Hosts »
Feeling moved to send some flowers on Veterans Day? You're not alone. The desire to honor those who served in the military and to commemorate their extraordinary sacrifices is a popular sentiment come November 11. Whether you're attending the USS KIDD ceremony or having a ritual in the home, there are some Veterans Day gifts that inspire, and they're called flowers.
At Billy Heromans Flowers & Gifts, we're aware that there is no official floral item that's traditionally exchanged on the 11th. Red poppies are reserved for more somber occasions, for instance, while blue forget-me-nots seem more intended for a sweetie you miss who is serving overseas. But while Veterans Day may not get its own flower, there are several candidates in all the right colors you can proudly deliver to your favorite patriot regardless. There are flowers you want to admire from a distance, or even lean in to for a minute to smell their lovely fragrance. And then there are flowers that you want to gather up in your arms and crowd your doorstep with. Mums are in that category.
We're loving mums at Billy Heroman's Flowers & Gifts, and not just because they're the season's standout bloom. We're filling Fall with mums because they're never out of season, even if we have to wait most of the year to see them. Though these days they come in a variety of colors - even wine and harvest hues - we're still partial to the traditionally bright blooms. Even on the darkest and deepest of Fall evenings, a batch of spirited mums reminds us that the sun will come out again. Read More about Filling Fall with Mums »
If you were planning to wait until Thanksgiving to start decking out your house in harvest blooms, you'll be happy to know there's a reason to start earlier. Instead of waiting, plunge into the season by decorating with Halloween floral designs that will look just right next to your pumpkins and black cats as well as your cornucopias and wreaths.
We've put together some lush seasonal groupings at Billy Heroman's Flowers & Gifts that will last throughout the autumn and complement the rest of your decor. From bright and spirited blooms to soft, romantic arrangements, fall's range of floral looks is nearly endless. Read More about Decorate with Halloween Floral Designs »
Just over 100 years ago in Cleveland, a group of confection companies got together to give sweets and candies to orphans, shut-ins and the homeless. In all, they handed out 26,000 boxes of candy and named the event "Sweetest Day". When they suggested making it an annual event, they were met with widespread cynicism, as the public thought that perhaps they were thinking more of creating a holiday that helped their pocketbooks, not the needy. Still, the observance has survived down through the years, primarily in the Northeast and Midwest, as a day to reach out to those who are in need of some help and encouragement.
Who in your life could use a pick-me-up? Billy Heroman's Flowers & Gifts has a wide selection of options sure to make them smile. Sweetest Day is October 21. Read More about Sweetest Day Gifts »
