All Abloom For Mother’s Day

Billy Heroman’s Flowers & Gifts is honoring the mothers this May 13th, and we mean all of them. Americans will spend over $2 billion on flowers for their mamas this year, which means a) there’s a lot of mothers to give flowers to and b) there’s a staggering variety of them. Any good florist will have a range of designs on hand to appeal to such an important array of recipients. As you select the perfect piece for yours, think about her preferences and taste. Should you pick a classic presentation of roses? A more modern cube vase packed with tulips? An exotic orchid? A fragrant bouquet?

Earth Day All Year Round In Our Greenhouses

It’s almost Earth Day, and in honor of it we here at Billy Heroman’s Flowers & Gifts want to show you what’s growing in our greenhouses.

We love celebrating our planet on April 22—there’s nothing better than seeing our Baton Rouge community come together for plantings, re-cycling events, environmental fairs and clean-ups. While you’re participating in local initiatives that remind us to be good stewards of the Earth, don’t forget to bring something green home, too. One of the best ways to get kids connected to our planet and interested in protecting it is to give them—and the whole house—something green to take care of.

Desktop Awareness For A Refreshed Workplace

We here at Billy Heroman’s Flowers & Gifts are rolling out a new initiative we’re calling “Desktop Awareness,” and the timing couldn’t be better. Administrative Professionals Day is just around the corner (April 25), and the fact that we’re bringing attention to the plight of desktops everywhere is something that’s bound to make them happy. Take  stock of the surfaces in your workplace—do they need a refresh for spring? Has the long winter left them cluttered, disorganized or totally bereft? If the answer is yes, let us show you the difference some flowers and plants can make.

Baskets Galore For Easter

What would Easter be without its baskets? It’s like suggesting we spend the Sunday without hunting for eggs or noshing on bunny-shaped chocolate. The basket is tradition, and it came to us from an even more ancient farming tradition, when seedlings were brought to church in baskets to be blessed. Eventually, what would become the Easter meal in modern times was also brought in a basket to be blessed. Baskets carry with them a sacred meaning, sure, but they’re also important symbols of comfort and plenty, which is why we here at Billy Heroman’s Flowers & Gifts love to design with them.

Make It A Sweet Secret Santa Gift

Playing Secret Santa this year? We at Billy Heroman’s Flowers & Gifts have the goods. If it’s your first time participating in this group gift swap, allow us to introduce you to the concept. Secret Santa’s origins can be traced to Scandinavia, where legend holds that a very Santa Claus-like figure used to knock on his neighbor’s doors and when they answered, vanish without a trace. All that was left behind was a present and maybe a few lines of verse hinting at the giver’s identity.

Today in the U.S. there are countless variations on the theme – even online versions. But no matter which iteration you’re playing, we can help with the gift part.

Festive Poinsettias for the Office

For many of us, the holiday season only officially begins when we’ve decorated the house and set up the tree. We transform our homes with garlands and lights, introducing some seasonal spirit to our daily lives. For most of us, it’s no different at the workplace. Out come the decorations, cheering up our desks and common areas and announcing to customers, clients and coworkers that the holidays are here.

At Billy Heroman’s Flowers, we love to combine our cherished decor with fresh new items unique to that year. And for us, there’s no better way to do that than with winter’s vibrant poinsettias.

Captivating Centerpieces for Thanksgiving

With so much to be thankful for this season, we at Billy Heroman’s Flowers & Gifts are offering you another: flowers.

Floral centerpieces haven’t been around as long as the cornucopia, but they have been with us for centuries. The idea of trimming your table – especially its heart – with a gathering of bountiful blooms makes total sense; flowers offer texture, fragrance and color. They bring life to a space, and they are lovely to look at. On Thanksgiving, we take great care to create a meal that does all of those things, and to gather friends and family to partake in it.

Veterans Day Gifts That Inspire

Feeling moved to send some flowers on Veterans Day? You’re not alone. The desire to honor those who served in the military and to commemorate their extraordinary sacrifices is a popular sentiment come November 11. Whether you’re attending the USS KIDD ceremony or having a ritual in the home, there are some Veterans Day gifts that inspire, and they’re called flowers.

At Billy Heromans Flowers & Gifts, we’re aware that there is no official floral item that’s traditionally exchanged on the 11th. Red poppies are reserved for more somber occasions, for instance, while blue forget-me-nots seem more intended for a sweetie you miss who is serving overseas. But while Veterans Day may not get its own flower, there are several candidates in all the right colors you can proudly deliver to your favorite patriot regardless.
